Our Spaces
Established in 2014, Spit & Sawdust is run by 3 artists and a skateboarder whose aim is to offer a unique and welcoming cultural, creative and social space in the city. We’re located just off a busy dual carriageway through a bleak retail park, but when you find us, you’ll forget all about that...
Over the years we’ve hosted art performances, skate jams, gigs, weddings, birthday parties & supper clubs to name a few! Our space is versatile and available to hire for an array of uses and depending on your needs, can be hired as a whole venue or as one of our unique individual spaces.
The Cafe
A cosy space for gatherings, parties, feasts and hanging out.
Plan your party!
Our cafe can be hired alongside the skatepark or independently. Perfect for parties & gatherings, the space can be furnished or unfurnished to make a dance floor. In the warmer months, the front wall comes off to create an open space with views of the garden and the vert ramp.
We are fully flexible and happy to help you design your perfect night.
Rates start from £60 ph (reduced to £50ph when you book 3 or more hours)
Capacity - 150 people in the cafe
Timings - Saturdays & Sundays: Start 6 pm / Ends 11 pm (it is possible to have a later finish time, but additional costs will be applied for door staff & an events license.)
The Skatepark
Our street section is very open plan with an array of banks & hips ranging from mellow to our steeper, more challenging obstacles. We've kept our concrete floor exposed for a faster skate & have many movable obstacles that can be brought out & set up. In the ramp/transitioned section, we have a 5ft-high midi with bowled-out corners, rising to 8ft, with smaller quarter pipes on the platforms. Alongside, we have a 3.5ft mini ramp with a 4ft tombstone... as well as the 12ft-tall, 32ft-wide vert ramp outside (which is currently the only vert ramp in Wales).
Skatepark private session hire:
Want to run a skate event? (Some of our skate groups include: Queer skate / BMX only / Over 40’s / Uni skate society / Accessible sessions) Or just fancy getting a group of buddies together for your own private session? … we offer hourly hire, you’ll also have access to the cafe & bar throughout your hire with our usual counter snacks, and drinks. The kitchen is closed during private hours, and the sale of alcohol is strictly post-skate/scoot or ride.
Rates start from £60 ph (reduced to £50ph when you book 3 or more hours)
Capacity - 60 people skating/riding
Timings - Sat & Sun evenings from 6 pm (generally 1-3 hours suits most groups)
Skatepark event/party hire:
We also hire the space for non-skate-related things (provided they meet our health and safety requirements). In the past, we have had gigs, wedding receptions, markets, screenings, skate jams, movie nights in the bowl, operas, art installations, and cabaret performances. It’s very versatile!

The Workshop Room
This room is great for creative workshops, meetings, training sessions and courses.
A heated, ground-floor, accessible space, with a separate entrance from outside and tables and chairs that can be reconfigured to suit a variety of needs.
It has white walls suitable for projecting onto and a sound curtain to mask the sound from the skatepark when open (please note the skatepark can be a bit noisy when busy, but we factor this into our low hire price costs, and we think it just adds to the atmosphere!).
Seats up to 24 around 6 tables for small tasks / 12 with half a table each for workshop style format / 16 around one large table for meetings.

Kids Parties
Spit & Sawdust is the perfect place for your child and their friends to enjoy a whole hour of skateboard, scooter, BMX or roller-skate fun, with private use of our 1100 sq ft skate park! Afterwards, unwind with one of our delicious meal options in our cosy cafe. Feel free to bring your own birthday cakes & treats! The Birthday package costs £100 with the option to add food for an extra £6 per person.

Booking Your Kids’ Party
The Important Bits!
What’s included:
Exclusive 1hr use of the skatepark
Reserved area in the cafe (which you’re welcome to decorate)
Membership for each guest
Hire kit, Skateboards, pads & helmets (no scooters, sorry)
Unlimited jugs of squash
Maximum Children
To keep the fun safe and stress-free & our kitchen happy, our maximum capacity is 20 children (Parents and babes in arms not included in these numbers)
We know it can be tricky with school class sizes, but we are unable to make exceptions.
Paying For Your Party
To secure your booking, we ask that you pay the £100 party fee at the time of booking. The food and any extras can be paid on the day. Our Slappy Meals are £6 pp (with an option to add on ice cream for £2).
Timings
Access from 4.30 pm - this is to allow you time to set up before guests arrive at 5 pm
Party starts!! Skatepark hire time from 5 - 6 pm
Food is served in the cafe at 6 pm
You’re very welcome to stay in the cafe for as long as you’d like afterwards.
For guest invitation info, most people stay until 6.45 - 7 pm
Skate Time
Exclusive use of Skatepark 5-6 pm. The space is yours …. run free! Skateboards, scooters, BMX, rollerskates, balance bikes …. unicycles?! are all welcome. Helmets must be worn for ages 13 and under.
Anyone entering the skatepark must be signed up as a member (fee included with your party). The webpage link can be sent out with your invitations to be completed ahead of time - click here
Re-entry to the skatepark after 6 pm is not permitted - our public open session starts at 6 pm. Anyone wanting to skate in the open session will need to check in at the desk and pay for the session (ages 7+ only).
Please ensure everyone brings their equipment out of the main skatepark area when the session finishes.
Food Time
Our Slappy meals are kid-sized & served plain. Choose a burger, hot dog, or French bread pizza slice - all available as meat, veggie or vegan and served with chips.
During the party, we will let you know when the food is on its way out. This will be served at 6 pm in the cafe. We will bring out the order on trays for you to distribute amongst the partygoers in our cafe.
Jugs of squash are provided; just ask for refills.
Music Requests

What We Don’t Provide
Here’s what you’ll need to sort out yourself:
Decorations, cake (a birthday cake & treats are allowed to be brought in; we don’t allow any other outside food or drink), party bags, invitations, coaches, scooters (we only hire skateboards).
What happens next:
Once you’ve booked, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to a food pre-order and guest number form. Please complete once you know the information, and submit no later than 3 days before the party.
Cancellation & Rescheduling policy:
If you need to reschedule or cancel, you can do this online via your email confirmation up to 72 hours prior to the party. After 72 hours, we are unable to refund or change your appointment.

If you’d like to hire any of our spaces, please fill in as much of the form as you can. Someone will get back in touch with you within 48 hours.
Our spaces are flexible, and we can cater for most requirements from decorations to DJs.
A deposit will be required to secure your booking (we ask for an hour’s fee up front). Once the hire is confirmed, we will email a payment link to you.
Our Cafe / Skatepark hire prices start at £60 per hour, with a reduced fee when you book 3+ hours. The workshop room starts at £20 per hour (see above).
Hires are available on Saturday & Sunday Evenings from 6 pm. If there are other dates & times outside of our current timetable you are interested in, please let us know.
Please note that Private hire slots are not available for children’s parties (Ages 13 & under). These are held on a Wednesday & Friday evening. (For info & online booking see above)
